An exotic heteromorph ammonite from the Cretaceous of Japan described fairly recently (Aiba, Karasawa & Iwasaki 2021) and which appears to be one of the rarer species of heteromorphs from Japan. Yezoceras elegans is characterized by an especially wide open-coil umbilicus and downward-pointing spines that transition into flaring ribs at the body chamber.
